Catering Support---social area of dungeon
Food Runners bring food from hotel service area into the social area of the dungeon. Remove trays with dirty dishes and taking them back to the hotel staff. Serve as host/hostess for Guests in the social area.
Ticket Taker-
Ticket Taker takes keynote dinner tickets on Friday night.
Command Center –
Liaison runs food & water to different volunteer positions. Run errands for Day/night co-ord.
Basically an overall go-fer for those that needs one.
Charity- Ticket seller
Ticket Sellers will be at tables during registration, seminar breaks and play parties to sell drawing tickets to guests. Assist in the drawing of prize tickets.
During the parties we will have a couple ticket sellers walking around the social areas selling also.
Merchandise Table- Sales
Sell merchandise for smOdyssey like T-shirts mugs and pins.
Decorations
Decorators place decorations, signs, fluff and other stuff for both social and play events.
Also make decorations ahead of time. Some pre-event hours required.
DUNGEON
DMS
DMs working the first shift will assist with final dungeon set-up activities (e.g. placement of safer sex materials, equipment wipe down, etc). DMs working the late shift will assist with dungeon breakdown activities (e.g. equipment wipe down, storage of unused safer sex materials, etc).
All DM's must have successfully completed the Dungeon Monitor Association (DMA) Beginning Dungeon Monitor Training Course. All DM's must attend the pre-party DM/Maitre D meeting to review the party rules, the shift schedule, walk through the dungeon, and answer last minute questions.
Dungeon Operations---Equipment Setup and Takedown
These positions will get extra volunteer credit due to the physical requirements and hours needed to get the job done
Dungeon Techs place, assemble, and otherwise prepare equipment for the dungeon play party. Duties may include placing of tarps, electrical outlets, lighting, etc. Disassemble the dungeon after the event. Should be familiar with nuts, bolts and the associated tools, and be able to lift a moderate to heavy load.
Dungeon Tech Set up and Takedown personal will also load equipment onto trucks at several different storage locations, unload the trucks at the venue, and move equipment from the loading dock to the dungeon space. At the end of the event, assist with the movement and transportation of equipment from the venue to storage. Must be able to lift 50-80 pounds.
Education
Presenter Liaisons serve as "go-fers" and ambassadors to our instructors, while maintaining order and facilitating the smooth beginning and closing of class. Presenter Liaisons are also responsible for distributing/collecting class evaluation surveys, and submitting them to the designated team lead or drop box.
Class Demo.. To be “used “ in demonstrations for the presenters as needed..very few of these positions available
Folsom Street Fair Booth
Booth volunteers assist in the set up/tear down of the smOdyssey booth at the Folsom Street Fair.
Time needed will include travel time and booth setup/teardown.
SMO Liaisons at FS booth will interact with Fair visitors who have questions about BDSM, leather, smOdyssey, etc. Usually 2 hour commitments
Registration – CHECK-IN STAFF
Main Door Greeter welcomes Guests to Registration and makes sure they have release forms filled out and signed. Explain to the Guests that they need to have valid ID and forms ready to check in. Also help with Bag Agents as needed.
Registrar verifies that the Guest’s name on the legal id (driver license, military id or passport) matches the name on both the Release Forms and the Registration Card (attached to the Registration envelope). Thanks the Guest for their participation, and directs them to the Bag Agent. Files complete paperwork. Since this position deals with confidential information, all Registrars must be a current member of smOdyssey and Board Approved.
Bag Agent checks ROL number and Scene names from the badge to the Merchandise Bag which will have both ROL # and scene name and hand them out. Helps keep the Registration area clear of people wanting to use it as a Social area.
Security
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) provide First Responder-type medical care in those occasions where it might be required. Determine whether additional medical treatment is necessary, and notify local public safety services if appropriate.
Security Rangers ensure that smOdyssey Events are both safe and secure. Ensure that only Guests, event staff, and hotel personnel (if applicable) are allowed into the event. Ensure that all attendees comply with the event rules, including the display of event ID nametags or bracelets. Control access into areas not open to the public, and assist guests with their questions and concerns. Work in concert with EMS during an emergency.
Transportation (Buses to the Folsom Street Fair)
Bus Concierge Assists passengers onto the buses at the Hotel and at Folsom street fair. Advise the passengers of where the buses will be for pickup and at what times.
The majority of the positions will be credited even time worked eg 2 hours worked 2 hours credit.
EMS and Dungeon Monitors will need to have the proper credentials to work in these areas.
